@Lorraine Estelle: Hi Estelle
I was given your name today and would like to get in touch about a game/creative learning tool I've developed. It's based on the renowned Buffet Game and on the concept of 'Learners in Control' from the TESEP project. Where am I, by the way!? I keep joining online networks!
@Sara: Hi Sara, any not for profit organisation or educational institution in a developing country is eligible to apply for Computer Aid International's PCs. For more information on how to apply please visit this page of our website: http://www.computeraid.org/apply%20for%20computers.htm or contact Sam on 020 8361 5540 or at sam@computeraid.org
We have provided over 3,700 PCs to Ethiopia since the organisation was established 10 years ago.
Thanks
Anja
Yes, my partner's family live in Hightown - so everytime I go to visit, I visit the men. Are you from round those parts?
@Anja ffrench: I'm signing in from Ethiopia, am interested in your work. You need to spread the word we need some IT specialists to share expertise as well please!
@Richard McKenna: Hi Richards, how's life, how's the JISC conference and how's the weather in Birmingham?
@Matt Jukes: Hi Matt, how's it all going, just signed in, not sure what I'm doing or where the best place to be is, any advice? Would like to say hi to a few people if they are around.
Anyone wanting to get a taxi to ALT-PC meeting make contact with me today. I think I'll book a taxi for 4 p.m. Hoping this appears on front page.
@Andy Powell: Andy, Twittering CrowdVine questions is as good as sending them in to support:
1. Look for the trashcan icon under people's names on your My Network page. That's how you remove contacts.
2. Facebook gives two options for matching, name and facebook id. We think that false negatives were worse than false positives so we match on name. Usually you can spot the false positives.
3. Somebody responded to your Twitter that they were afraid of the Facebook import. Do you think that was because they were afraid we'd spam their FB friends? We don't work that way. And FB doesn't give us any option to either.
4. Friends from other CrowdVines does match off of user id. Maybe you have no matches?
Hope that helps!
@Shri Footring: Hi Shri
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. My twitter name is notlob. I much prefer jaiku but that is invite only so not much use for a conference of this size.
Lisa
@Angela Beesley: Hi Angela, looking forward to meeting you at the conference. Did you see that the Skype interview we recorded went out: http://www.jisc.ac.uk/news/stories/2008/04/podcast37angelabeesley.aspx
See you on Tuesday..
@Anja ffrench: Comnputer Aid sounds great! Can't wait to come and check out the stand and hear what's going on.
@Stuart Lewis: Hi, Stuart, Hope you enjoyed Open Repositories 2008. Keep up the good work on your repositories mashup - I use it frequently in my presentations
@Kathryn Robinson: Nope, its from the last time I did a JISC thing. Its a pathetic attempt to juggle apples......
@Justin Spooner: Hi Justin,
It will probably be mayhem, but hope to bump into you next week...
Paul
@Philip Pothen: Hi Philip, just read the Comms resposibility schedule. Looks like it's going to be a very busy Conference...
@Tony Stubblebine: Hey guys 'this pete whitfield' here! I'm too modest to say I'm worth meeting, but I would like to meet the 'other' pete whitfield who is into elearning!
@Matt Jukes: Matt, re-added "who's attending" to the session pages along with a new feature. The session pages now list the people you have on your to-meet list. Hopefully that makes it easier to find people before or after a session.
@Nitin Parmar: We just do name matching on the Facebook matching on the theory that false negatives are worse than false positives. Maybe this pete whitfield is worth meeting?
@David De Roure: Hi, Dave, This is a helpful way to find out who is going from parallel subject group at the home institution!
Jessie
@Cheryl Reynolds: Hi Cheryl,
Great, look forward to meeting you at the conference and I'll look out for you in SL.

@Paul Richardson: Hi Paul - I just missed you at Coleg Harlech, but would like to meet up at JISC Brum. I'm very excited about SPLICE - I'm learning so much from Mark. I'd like to see it move forward even more. I read your 'Power of Video' blog - yes, yes. yes! Creating video for learning and expression is a pet subject of mine too!
@pete whitfield: Hello! I think that this website has linked me to the wrong Pete Whitfield through it's integration with Facebook. But my areas of interest are now listed on my profile :-)
@Nitin Parmar: Hi Nitin - what's your area of interest? Are you into music or the creative industries?
@Owen Stephens: owen - i agree on all points. the schedule doesn't quite work as I had expected (I thought the point was you could see who was in the same session as you)
as for more help arranging meet-ups I think thats a great idea but can't see it being something we fix this time around - however I do know the venue well so will write something giving advice on venue meeting landmarks! Hope that helps..
@Owen Stephens: hi owen. I'll look forward to meeting you at the Conf. I am probably headed to some of the same panels as you are:)
@Matt Jukes: Would be great to have more links between the virtual and physical sides of the conference. Specific example is that I've just had a mutual 'would like to meet' request, and Crowdvine says:
"Say hello in the hallway or send a note back to setup something more formal"
This is OK as far as it goes, but what about suggesting some meetings places and times? I don't know the venue at all, so I can't suggest where I might meet this new contact. I'm not sure how detailed this needs to be, but at least some 'suggested meeting places' would be good, and also some times might be good as well - something like 'you are both attending the xxx session' (since it doesn't seem possible to share schedules?)
@Owen Stephens: Owen - feel free to leave the comments on my profile about Crowdvine - I'll pass them all on to the developers..
@Matt Jukes: Do you mind Crowdvine enhancement suggestions being posted here?
Anyway, would be nice to include 'Friend' and 'Like to meet' links in the New Members RSS feed if it was possible.
@Jim Shuker: Hi Jim
It would be really good to compare Second Life experiences. I'm Four Bailey in SL, by the way...
@Matt Jukes: I'd second Nic's comment - or suggest that a nice enhancement would be for Crowdvine to support some 'scheduling' process following a mutual 'would like to meet' network request
@pete whitfield: Sounds good Pete, send an invite along: you should be able to get my email address from my profile.
Look forward to meeting you at the conference...
@Hector Peebles: Oh boy - I'm fluent with Ning but this is all a bit new! Looking forward to hooking up with you Hector. We've got a Ning network in for our music department - can I invite you in?
@Dicky Maidment-Otlet: In where? The office? Logged in? See you next week, am at HEFCE Conf 2008 on Mon & Tues...
@Lisa Valentine: I was well pleased with the online conferences. Obviously would have been nice to have more people online - you get more interaction that way. However I think they went well and people went away happy.
@James Clay: James - well hello. Hope the online event went well today. Sounds interesting what you are planning - see you there - in person for a change.
Lisa
@Shri Footring: Hi Shri - I've never come across this networking site before so it will be interesting to see how it works. Hope to see you on the day.
Lisa
@Kerry Down: Yes - thats it - I knew I had seen you before - Daphne isn't it? If it wasn't for those pesky kids blah blah blah
@JISC TechWatch: Paul/Gaynor - I'll be around all day at the conference (and the day before) and it would be good to say hello. You having a stand this year - if not I'll just keep an eye out..
@Nic Wilkinson: Nic - have just made a request to the developers (who are in California!) and they should add it early evening our time - once its there I'll make an announcement letting everyone know the demos have been added..
@Matt Jukes: Matt, is there any chance of you adding elements like the demo's and stands to the my shedule bit. Mainly because I want to encourage everyone to come and see my demo!
@James Clay: they all end up on the homepage so its easy to follow but I *think* you are meant to visit the persons profile page and leave the comment..if only because then it doesn't look like you are talking to yourself on the homepage(!)
I'll tune in on the 8th and see how it looks..
Meant to add that I will be trying it all out at the RSC SW HE Conference in Bristol on the 8th April. If it works then I will be bringing it to the JISC Conference, if it doesn't then I'll do something else!
@James Clay: james - looking forward to seeing how the Qik stuff works out - what phone do you use for it?
@Malcolm Batchelor: Welcome to Crowdvine Malcolm...looking forward to filming at the JISC Conference 2008
There are a couple of bugs in the mySchedule option at the moment - the opening keynote is not entered correctly (the details are under Intro by Sir Ron) and the Stuedent Experience session is missing..these will be fixed as soon as possible..
The mySchedule option is now up and running and looks really good - there is also a 'want to meet' feature now to help networking..
@Robert Haymon-Collins : Text is wrapping now...I can see everyone's Areas of Interest and full job titles... Yay!
@Robert Haymon-Collins : No clues as of yet...must be a CSS thing that isn't letting text wrap down to the next line...
It all seems to be cool...
@Hector Peebles: Well I am having fun so far - shame that the stuff in the Yellow box with personal stuff seems not to be able to contain all the info - it slips out of the box - any clues?
@Matt Jukes: Not all my areas of interest (ie my 'answsers' bits on myprofile, show up on my profile home page - any ideas?
